Life Lessons

When life gets tough, it can be hard to remember lessons we've learned along the way. I consider myself a lifelong learner, so some lessons I have learned, some I am relearning, some I have yet to learn, and, some lessons I have had to unlearn and replace with a new (wiser) perspective.

Life is a journey. No one gets it 100% right all of the time.

The only certain failure is chasing perfection.

Life does not come without bumps, bruises, cuts, and gashes. I've had to learn to love and accept my scars. I could view them as proof I was hurt. I choose to view them as proof I've survived, I've overcome, I'm resilient and, because I am still here, I can keep moving forward on my journey.

That I was hurt is not my fault. That I'm hurting is not my fault. What I do with that hurt is up to me.

That's not me internalizing blame. I'm not excusing those who have hurt me in the past or may hurt me in the future. I'm not diminishing the lives of those I've lost. That's me giving myself permission to take the power back. To fully embrace the power I have to decide who I want to be, who I will be, and what I want to do with the very real hurt I have endured and survived.

That's me taking my life off of pause by choosing to press play.

It's not easy, but the choice is mine. It's yours too.

So, who do you want to be? How do you want to be? Where do you want to show up? How do you want to show up? How do you want to take your power back? How do you want to own your power? What do you want to do with this power that is fully and rightfully yours?

I can guarantee three things: It won't be quick and it won't be easy.

There will be struggles and setbacks, but the life you want is possible and I guarantee you are worth the effort.

I understand. I struggle too. And I’ve realized that I can’t do it alone. No one can. The good news is, you don’t have to.
